Rules for Submissions
Suitably high resolution figures may be inserted within the text at appropriate positions or grouped at the end. Each figure legend should be presented on the same page as its figure. The reference list should include article titles.
Title.Titles must fit on two lines in print (75 characters including spaces for Articles and 90 for Letters) and should avoid technical terms, abbreviations and active verbs.
Authors. Corresponding author(s) should be identified with an asterisk.
Abstract. Provide a general introduction to the topic and a brief non-technical summary of your main results and their implication.
Methods. The Methods section appears in most online original research articles and should contain all elements necessary for interpretation and replication of the results. Methods should be written as concisely as possible and typically do not exceed 3,000 words but may be longer if necessary.
References. These may only contain citations and should list only one publication with each number. Include the title of the cited article or dataset.
Acknowledgements (optional). Keep acknowledgements brief and do not include thanks to anonymous referees or editors, or effusive comments. Grant or contribution numbers may be acknowledged.
Author contributions. You must include a statement that specifies the individual contributions of each co-author. For example: “A.P.M. ‘contributed’ Y and Z; B.T.R. ‘contributed’ Y,” etc.
Materials & Correspondence. Indicate the author to whom correspondence and material requests should be addressed so that it can be properly placed with the paper and easy to view.
Tables. Each table should be accompanied by a short title sentence describing what the table shows. Further details can be included as footnotes to the table.
If you wish to submit an article instead of a research paper, please be sure to choose the correct category. Articles Must be submitted by EMAIL rather than through the uploader.
Content in articles should be no less than 1000 words and should be submitted through Word, with an accompanying feature image. Each image must have proper attribution or be the sole property of the acknowledged authors.
High-resolution image files are not required at initial submission, but please ensure images are of sufficient resolution for referees to properly assess the data. We prefer the figures to be incorporated with the manuscript text into a single Word doc at initial submission, but if necessary, supply separate image files with information instructions for placement.
Below are guidelines for the formatting of essays based on recommendations from the MLA (the Modern Language Association).
- Fonts: Your essay should be word processed in 12-point Times New Roman fonts.
- Double space: Your entire essay should be double spaced, with no single spacing anywhere and no extra spacing anywhere. There should not be extra spaces between paragraphs.
- Heading: In the upper left corner of the first page of your essay, you should type your name, the instructor’s name, your class, and the date, as follows:Your NameMr. Rambo
- Margins: According to the MLA, your essay should have a one-inch margin on the top, bottom, left, and right.
- Page Numbers: Your last name and the page number should appear in the upper right corner of each page of your essay, including the first page, as in Jones 3. Insert your name and the page number as a “header.” Do not type this information where the text of your essay should be.
- Title: Your essay should include a title. The title should be centered and should appear under the heading information on the first page and above the first line of your essay. The title should be in the same fonts as the rest of your essay, with no quotation marks, no underlining, no italics, and no bold.
- Indentation: The first line of each paragraph should be indented. According to the MLA, this indentation should be 1/2 inch or five spaces, but pressing [Tab] once should give you the correct indentation.
- Align Left: The text of your essay should be lined up evenly at the left margin but not at the right margin. In your word processor, choose “Align Left.” Do not choose “Justify.”
You are ready to publish!
When a submission satisfies these criteria it is assigned to the editor for proofing and fact checking. We do not edit the content, so please ensure the work is written with proper grammar and punctuation. It will be automatically rejected if it is poorly written or has too many spelling/grammar and punctuation mistakes. It will also be rejected if not properly referenced. You will be notified upon rejection to correct this for resubmission.
If Essays aren’t your thing, you can submit a general article for publication on our website. Submitting Articles is much less daunting and offers far more freedom for acceptance.
A submitted axiom must:
- be written in Times New Roman 12pt font,
- be 1.5 or double spaced,
- include proper H2, H3 headings,
- include meta data (tags),
- include proper genre from the list below
- be readable and understandable by the general public,
- offer a conversational style that is engaging.
- include both the axiom, and a clear response to it.
- be no longer than 1000 words.
